February Week Two

WEEK TWO REPORT

The attendance of committee members was rather disappointing today. Some of them were not punctual. Even Mr Earnest was much earlier than most of them.
The second session in February began at 7.35am.

The opening speech seemed to be very inviting and quite interesting.

Then, the second speaker was called upon to deliver her points of view. She agreed with the theme this month, and told the difference between female and male teachers in terms of ways of education. She also shared information about the statistics of female and male teachers in Malaysia. In addition to her point, she used her class's male population as the example to support her argument.

Most of the TESL J trainees arrived when the first speaker was delivering her point.

Then, the third speaker came out and spoke. He disagreed with the theme. He claimed that if female teachers are better, there would not be any football team in a school. He related most of his opinions with sports. He hoped that no one would feel offended by his points of view.

As for closing speech, the representative seemed to be speaking spontaneously although she was holding small piece of paper.

The Second Session of Speaker's Corner in February ended at 7.55am. The attendance of other trainees was not good compared to sessions held at Seri Cempaka Building. The committee members think that this might due to the location of the session. Mr Earnest too is not pleased with the attendance of trainees. He hopes that more and more people will come and see, as well as to gain knowledge. Committee members also hope that more trainees will come. It is such a shameful attitude to know that even TESL-ians are not interested to come. The board of committees also hope that trainees will sacrifice 20 minutes of their beauty sleep to wake up earlier on every Thursday and attend Speaker's Corner session.

Committee members of Speaker's Corner 2010 do appreciate trainees who are willing to come (even though some came when the session had already over). Once again, thank you for coming and support us <3
